General Questions
Most homes need pumping every 3-5 years. However, the exact interval depends on your household size, tank size, water usage, and the volume of solids entering the system. Larger families or homes with garbage disposals may need more frequent pumping. We can assess your situation and recommend the right schedule for you.
Watch for these warning signs: slow drains throughout your home, gurgling sounds in pipes, foul odors near the tank or drain field, lush green grass over the drain field, water pooling in the yard, and sewage backup in drains or toilets. If you notice any of these, call us immediately for an inspection.
You can, but we don't recommend it. Garbage disposals send food waste into your septic tank, increasing the sludge buildup and requiring more frequent pumping. If you do use one, pump your tank every 2-3 years instead of 3-5, and use it sparingly.
Pumping Questions
Most residential pumping takes 30-60 minutes from arrival to completion. The actual pumping is quick — most of our time is spent locating access points, setting up equipment, and performing the inspection.
Not necessarily. We just need access to your yard where the tank is located. However, if we've never serviced your tank before or don't know the location, we'd prefer you be available to help us find it.
We haul all waste to licensed wastewater treatment facilities in Connecticut. We never dump illegally or on random properties. We dispose of waste properly at approved facilities that handle septic waste.
Installation Questions
The permitting process typically takes 4-8 weeks. Once permitted, excavation and installation usually take 3-5 days of active work, spread over 2-3 weeks to allow for inspections and backfilling. Weather and site conditions can affect the timeline.
The right system depends on your soil conditions, property layout, local codes, and water usage needs. After a site evaluation and soil testing, we can recommend the best system for your situation — whether conventional gravity, pump-to-grade, aerobic treatment, or mound system.
